The Wallenburg Tower, an attraction from the 13th century, from which you have a marvellous view as far as the Werra Valley and the anterior Rhön, also invites you to visit. The Wallenburg, once built to protect the mines, was almost completely destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. The Wallenburg tower was restored between 1964 and 65 and is now a popular excursion destination.
