First Light is at the head of the Sakonnet River and runs south to Martha's Vineyard sound. Sunlight reflecting off of the sea floods the spacious living area, rippling on the walls and ceiling. Sailing from our guest mooring to Sachuest Point and a visit to the Norman Bird Sanctuary before heading further south to the Islands is quick with a good breeze.
First Light packs a lot in a small package. Main living area on second floor leads out to a large wood deck, which is 11' above high tide mark. Making for a nice vantage point to view the only traffic you'll have to concern yourself with, boat traffic. Comfortable, inviting and casual is the theme throughout the home. Like clockwork, everyday around 130/2pm, the Narragansett breezes start out of the Southeast. The casement windows are crank out and set in just the right spot, are great for capturing a cool breeze to flow through the entire house. Keeping things cool in the evening. We also have central air throughout the house, if thats what you prefer. If you're looking for a vacation home that is therapeutic, relaxing and peaceful, this is the place that will take you there. If you're looking for a vacation home to reconnect you to nature, the earth and the ocean, just walking through the front door and you'll know you've arrived. I've lived here for twelve years and every day Mother Nature paints a picture more beautiful than the last. I do hope you get to explore and enjoy this special natural habitat. Blue heron frequent a little tidal pond at low tide, just feet from the deck. Narragansett Bay and Mt. Hope Bay's water quality improves each year. We swim safely and securely behind the house. Its great with water sandles. Bring your floaty tubes, anchor and create a little family floatilla.
Low tide exposes 100 yards of the river rock shore line. Sandals or water shoes are recommended for a more enjoyable experience, and the west side of our peninsula has a sandy bottom for a romantic, sunset stroll.
Three bedrooms on the third floor with east and west decks for fabulous views of sunrise on the Sakonnet River or sunset on the Mt. Hope Bay. There is also a twin bed set up in the master bedroom to accommodate one. Stunning views of three bridges and if you look straight up at night, the Milky Way.
The yard is large enough for frisbee and lawn darts. Your children can enjoy a full playground just a short walk away. Inside family fun with plenty of board and table games. Scrabble, several different Trivia Pursuits, Chess, Checkers, Mexican Train Domino's, Jenga, cards, Parcheesi< Scattergories, Mad Grab and more.
Dining destinations are from five to thirty minutes away. It's like the United Nations of gastronomic delight in our area. From healthy to heart stopping, we've got it all. Tiverton's BoatHouse (5 min), Bristol's Oyster Bar, DeWolf and Pomodoro. (10 min) Or head north to Fall River for Portuguese. We have a file of all our favorite restaurants for your perusing.
Our cleaning practices have not changed in 8 years of hosting, because I like everything clean. The only difference is the EPA approved disinfecting products we use, have to be sprayed on the surface and sit for 6 minutes before being wiped off and cleaned again. The EPA's website has a step by step protocol which we follow. Laundry, linens are washed in hot water and bleach.
