Das Haus hat eine lange Geschichte hinter sich - wann genau es erbaut wurde, ist jedoch nicht bekannt. Einige schätzen das Alter auf über 400 Jahre. Die vor dem Haus stehende Heidenmauer sollte angeblich als Verteidigungswerk vor den über den Sustenpass kommenden Heiden schützen. Zwischen dem Haus und der gegenüber liegenden Kapelle verläuft der alte Saumweg nach Wassen oder über den Sustenpass bis nach Innertkirchen. 1981 stand das Gebäude kurz vor dem totalen Zerfall. Es bestand noch aus drei Aussenwänden und einem löcherigen Dach. Durch eine komplette Renovation wurde das Haus wiederhergerichtet. Die Inneneinrichtung wurde praktisch, gemütlich und einfach ausgewählt. Ein grosses Cheminée mit Umluft dient als Zentralheizung. Wichtiges für den Winteraufenthalt Das Haus ist in allen vier Jahreszeiten buchbar. Die Winter im Meiental sind meisten sehr streng, und ein bis zwei Meter Schnee sind keine Seltenheit. Gerade in dieser Jahreszeit ist es sehr ruhig im Dorf und das Haus strahlt seine eigene, existenzielle Gemütlichkeit aus. Unsere Gäste werden gebeten, mit einem winterfesten Auto mit Schneeketten anzureisen. Die Zufahrt auf der Sustenstrasse kann bei grossen Schneefällen kurzzeitig gesperrt werden. Durch eine Tür gelangen Sie zum Treppenhaus, zur Garderobe und ins Badezimmer mit Dusche, Waschbecken, Toilette und Waschmaschine. Obergeschoss Im Dachgeschoss befinden sich ein ad mit Dusche, Waschbecken und Toilette. Die zwei Schlafzimmer (1x5, 1x2) haben bodenebene Betten, welche sich gemütlich unter der Dachschräge einnisten. In den Regalen hat es Bücher und Brettspiele. Ebenso gibt es ein TV (ohne Kabelanschluss) mit einer DVD-Auswahl. Keller Durch einen Lukendeckel im Boden gelangen Sie in den Naturkeller, wo Vorrat und Material gut gelagert werden kann. In einem Weingestell gibt es eine schöne Auswahl von Weinen aus der ganzen Welt. Der Weinkeller ist für die Gäste geöffnet (gegen Bezahlung). Zudem gibt es im Keller drei Schlitten und drei paar Schneeschuhe die Sie im Winter unentgeltlich benutzen dürfen. Aussenbereich Von der Küche aus gelangen Sie durch eine Glastür ins Freie. Auf dem Sitzplatz steht ein massiver Gartentisch, der zu gemütlichem Dasein einlädt. Von dort zeigt sich das Bergpanorama mit den Fünffingerstöcke am Schönsten. Sollte die Sonne zu stark scheinen, kann die Markise ausgefahren werden. Über ein paar Stufen geht es herunter zum hauseigenen Parkplatz. Von dort hat das Gepäck nur einen kurzen Weg. Ein zweiter Parkplatz ist auf der anderen Seite des Hauses, welcher ebenfalls gratis zur Verfügung gestellt wird.
